The past week or so have felt really good. I’m ok with work and my surroundings and to the best of my knowledge, I’m getting along splendidly with my roommates. It feels nice; let’s see how long it lasts.
One thing I’ve notices though, is how much I miss Davis. I mean, I miss going to class and writing essays and pretending to read books, I mean reading assigned books and just, you know, learning. I think I may have taken for granted the sheer amount of knowledge that got dropped on me on a daily basis. Oh man, but I just loved going to history class (NERD). I caught myself looking at the Aggie Pack website, thinking about how great it would be to throw on my Aggie Pack T-shirt, go to a football game and then scream myself silly for the Ags.
As awesome as my memories are of my alma mater, I can’t really ever live those moments again. My time as a care-free college student (that’s a joke, at one point I was rugby president, writing an honors thesis, on the sports club council, sponsoring someone in RCIA and moving every quarter. BAM) has come to an end and even if I were to go back to school and get some sort of graduate degree, I wouldn’t be going back to the same experiences. I love thinking back on all the great antics and fantastic classes I participated in over my four years, but now I’m here, in South Dakota. Rather than forlornly pine for times which will never come again, I must create new antics and memories and adventures here.
But don’t worry, UC Davis is and always will be, the greatest school in the entire universe (that’s right alien colleges-you ain’t got nuthin’). GO AGS!
